A British boy beat the odds after being given only a 10 percent chance of survival.

Six-week-old George King gave his parents — and doctors — a fright the day he was born. That’s because he weighed 15 pounds, 7 ounces. His mother, Jade King, told the BBC that doctors weren’t expecting him to be so big.

“When his head was out that’s when they realized that he was so big and then his shoulders got stuck,” she said. And then that is when everything kicked off.”

‘Little’ George went without oxygen for five minutes. Doctors gave him a 10 percent chance of survival, but after four and a half weeks, George was allowed to go home.

Doctors are still trying to determine why George was so big. His mother weighed just six pounds when she was born; his father weighed nine pounds.

The UK is also home to another large baby that weighed just one ounce more than George.
