Newport News, Va. – Newport News police simulated a detonation of an explosive device Monday afternoon as part of a Newport News training exercise, officials tell NewsChannel 3.
Between 2:45 p.m. and approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, Newport News Police Communications (dispatchers) were conducting training that involved a simulated detonation of an explosive device at City Hall.
Some radio transmissions may have sounded like an actual emergency, but it was just part of the exercise.
