Suffolk, Va. – A house trailer was destroyed in a fire in Suffolk Tuesday afternoon.

Suffolk Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 2600 block of Whaleyville Boulevard at 12:05 p.m.  A portion of Whaleyville Boulevard was briefly closed in both directions as a result of the fire.

A firefighter was slightly injured when the floor of the structure gave way as he was searching to make certain no one was inside the burning trailer.  He was transported to Sentara Obici Hospital for treatment.

The house trailer was declared a total loss and the Red Cross is assisting the man who lived there.

The Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
