Hampton, Va. - For the second year in a row, the Norfolk Tides have put on their work gloves and headed out into the community. Their mission? Renovate a baseball field for the winners of an online contest.

And this year... the winner comes from Hampton. Phoebus Little League!

Phoebus Little League is an organization whose rich history of baseball has survived for more than 60 years.

Now, the league can add a new highlight to its timeline.

The league won the contest by acquiring over 5,000 votes.

Mary says her husband used to do the ground work at the field, but since his passing, it's been hard to keep it up. But the next thing she knew, the Norfolk Tides were headed to Hampton to get to work on a field desperately in need of some help.

And love is what they would give it. They had quite the work cut out for them. On the list was re-doing the infield, and to do that, the team had to literally dig out new baselines so they could fill them with dirt.

It seems among the all the varying projects being worked on at the field, one sentiment held true for all the volunteers - a love and passion for youth and baseball. Now these little guys can play their hearts out in style!
