Chesapeake, Va. - This weekend, the community is invited to take action to help support children of Hampton Roads - during the Chesapeake Rubber Duck Race.
Thousands of rubber duckies will hit the waterway at approximately 2:15 p.m. April 27 to raise funds to support the work of CHIP.
All proceeds from the Chesapeake Rubber Duck Race benefit CHIP. CHIP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency that provides a continuum of services to families with young children to ensure they have a happy, healthy start in life and enter school ready to learn and succeed.
CHIP provides services for children, prenatal through age six, in the focus areas of health improvement, reduction of child abuse and neglect, and school readiness.
Services include case management, home visitation, and parent support, education and referral.
Healthy communities start with healthy children. Help every child have a healthy, loving start, so he or she enters school ready to learn and succeed.
The goal is to raise $75,000 to support services for the children of South Hampton Roads.
The price to enter and to adopt are as follows: one (1) for $5; Ten (10) for $45; Twenty-five (25) for $110; Fifty (50) for $215; One hundred (100) for $410; Over 100: $4 each.
There will be a HUGE Grand Prize for the lucky duck that wins the race: a new 2013 Chevy Spark.
Additional prizes will also be awarded. The family event also includes music, food from local vendors, balloon animals, face painting, children’s games, a bounce house, and more.
