Norfolk, Va. – The Navy has announced details about a potential new plan that could change the way aircraft carriers deploy in the future.
According to Navy Live, the Enhanced Carrier Presence Plan would give sailors more certainty about their schedules, but it could also mean more time away from home. Each cruise would last seven months.
Under this new plan, a CSG will undergo one work-up cycle and they’ll deploy twice before an overhaul back home.
They say the demand for naval forces is high and this plan will allow them to continue to meet demands.
They are considering implementing these changes in 2015. The plan has not been finalized yet.
