Norfolk, Va. – On Monday, Apr. 29, 2013, VDOT crews will open the Interstate 64 east ramp from Norview Avenue east, in time for morning rush hour.
This new ramp removes the left turn movement motorists are currently making from Norview Avenue east onto I-64 east towards Virginia Beach, at the stoplight.
Motorists who need access to I-64 east from Norview Avenue east will do so using a right turn lane that directly enters the new ramp. The current signal operation and timing will be adjusted to accommodate the new traffic pattern. Access to the I-64 east ramp from Norview Avenue west will remain the same.
Crews opened the I-64 east to Norview Avenue ramp in early February 2013.
The Norview Avenue Ramps Improvement Project will enhance safety at the interchange by removing the existing weave and provide an easier movement from Norview Avenue and the interstate. The entire project is slated for completion in fall 2013.
