Teens charged after breaking into an Outer Banks fire station

Dare County, N.C. – Two teens have been charged after an incident at the Salvo Fire Department in Dare County.

Dare County Sheriff’s Office says the fire department had been entered and significant damage had occurred.

A member of the department reported a gouge in the concrete floor and large holes in the plywood wall of the fire station with a pry bar from the fire truck.

Several other items were also damaged and fire equipment items were reported missing as well.

Two 19-year-olds were identified as suspects and they were charged on May 7th.

Kieran Lee Bowman of Frisco has been charged with possession of burglary tools, breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen property, damage to real property, and damage to personal property.

Steven Anthony Nelson of Frisco has been charged with possession of burglary tools, breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and possession of stolen property.

Both have been committed to the Date County Detention Center in lieu of bond.
