(CNN) — The Egyptian prosecutor’s office says that evidence shows three suspected al Qaeda-linked terrorists arrested over the weekend targeted the U.S. and French embassies in Egypt, as well as an Egyptian army facility in the Sinai Peninsula, according to the MENA state news agency. The report states the alleged attackers planned to use car bombs. A source briefed by an Egyptian security official told CNN that the alleged terrorist cell had 10 kilograms of ammonium nitrate, which is commonly used in bomb making.
