Grommet Island Park to temporarily close this weekend

Virginia Beach, Va. – Grommet Island Park, located on 2nd Street by the boardwalk, will be closed from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 for maintenance.

Grommet Island Park is a handicapped accessible park, built adjacent to the boardwalk between 1st and 2nd streets allowing handicapped individuals to easily maneuver across the beach to the ocean.

Featuring soft play structures, wheelchair accessible seating, accessible surf-themed play structures and more, this 15,000 square foot handicapped-accessible play area on the beach is the first of its kind in America.
