Portsmouth, Va. - A woman is recovering after being shot in the head on Jefferson and Atlanta Avenue. While investigating the shooting, police have now linked the victim and two others to a robbery.

Police say the victim, Crystal Marie Griffin and two others, Briijya Ashley Brockington and LeShawn Lee Harris, were in a vehicle together when the shooting occurred. Officials say they may have been involved in an assault before the shooting. Police think the shooting may have been in retaliation.

Griffin was taken to Sentara Norfolk General where she is still recovering.

Several robberies and assaults have been reported in the area and in each case the victims reported that two females and a male were involved.

One victim told police he was robbed  and assaulted on Bagley Street on May 7th. He reported seeing a light-colored SUV during the incident.

The second incident occurred on May 11th. A 54-year-old reported being assaulted by four or five females. He says he was hit in the head before a light colored SUV drove away. Just minutes later on the same day, a third person also reported getting hit in the head and he also described a light-colored vehicle.

Police were able to recover a light-colored vehicle that they say belonged to the shooting victim, Griffin. They found evidence linking all three to the May 7th robbery. They could face additional charges for the other robberies.

The suspects have been charged with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony connected to the May 7th incident.
