NASA has a new mission: Creating a pizza that can be made with a 3-D printer in space
This isn't your normal computer printer.
Paper mache ingredients are fed into the machine and it spits out a creation.
So what NASA wants to do is use the same concept, but put food ingredients inside.
A vegan pizza was created by using the printer.
NASA is also working on other foods that can be made by using a 3-D printer in space.
This is all because the current foods astronauts take with them don't have a long shelf-life or enough nutrition for a mission to Mars.
The Navy is also working on the 3-D printer to install on ships.
If that does happen, it would allow the Navy to make ammo, spare parts for aircraft, and food all from the ship.
