Virginia Beach, Va. – A New Jersey teen who was visiting Virginia Beach on a senior class trip last Friday was charged with grand larceny from a person. Police say he confronted a man at an ABC store he thought stole his bottle of alcohol after the teen had someone buy it for him.
Police received the call about a robbery at around 9:20 p.m. on Laskin Road. The victim told them that he was robbed in the alley.
Investigators say the victim left the ABC store and was approached by two suspects asking for his bag. The man became frightened and started to yell as one of the suspects grabbed the bag and took off. The suspect was stopped by police.
They say 18-year-old Robert Lambert-Clark, Jr. got someone to buy him the alcohol and he hid the bottle from a school advisor. When he went to get the alcohol, police say he found it missing and thought that the person leaving the ABC store was the one who took the bottle. That’s when the confrontation happened.
Lambert-Clark was charged with grand larceny of a person and released on bond.
This case is still under investigation.
