NewsChannel 3 is learning more about a shooting that killed a 13-year-old boy and put another teen in the hospital.

Newport News police have now made two arrests.

18-year-old Damien Rashon Payne was taken into custody on June 4 and 18-year-old Lorenzo Goodman Jr. arrived at Newport News Police headquarters and turned himself in to detectives on Friday, June 7.

Both are accused in that double shooting at the Quick Save Mini Mart on Chestnut Avenue late last month.

They're each charged with one count of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and felony discharging a firearm in a public place causing injury.

Police believe the 13 and 17-year-old boys were standing in front of the store when they were gunned down.
