Norfolk, Va. – Police say an 11-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle in the 3300 block of Granby Street around 7:20 a.m. Friday morning.
The girl was attempting to cross Granby and made it to the median. A vehicle in the lane closest to the median waved her across but the vehicle in the next lane failed to see her.
The girl stepped in front of the vehicle and did not see the it coming due to her umbrella and backpack.
She was awake and alert when officers arrived on the scene. She was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
No charges will be filed.
