Hampton Roads isn’t the only place to see ‘tornadoes’. For 38-hours over June 3-4 the Solar Dynamics Observatory captured plasma dancing across the Sun’s surface. Multiple ‘sun tornadoes’ appear to be supporting a long solar filament like pillars of fire:
