In the next few years, women could start training for elite combat jobs like Army Ranger or Navy SEAL.

This is part of the next step in a longstanding effort to open as many combat jobs as possible to women.

Former Rep. Allen West does not agree with the move. According to the Huffington Post, he stated in a Facebook post that he sees the measure as “a misguided vision of fairness and equality” and he believes this will destroy “American Warrior Culture.”

This is not the first time West has opposed increasing combat roles for women. He previously stated that allowing women in these positions would only increase the military’s sexual assault issues.
