Suffolk, Va. – A lightning strike damaged two homes in Suffolk Sunday night, but did not spark a fire.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the strike in the 100 block of Bennetts Creek Landing at 7:49 p.m.
The lightning bolt hit a pine tree and shot over to the gutters of the home with several entry points. There was no fire from the strike, however, an estimated $5,000 to $10,000 of damage was done to the exterior of the home along with electronics inside the home.
There was no fire reported and no injuries sustained. A neighboring home had damage to a sprinkler system from the same lightning strike.
Power was temporarily off in the neighborhood but has been restored.
