Here is a statement from Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms regarding the incident:

"I am very concerned about the tragic shooting early Sunday morning at Town Center. Police are currently investigating this crime to the fullest extent possible to determine what happened there, so it is premature to comment about this specific incident.

I will say, however, that Town Center has a remarkable record for safety. This is not the norm. We do not often have incidents like this at Town Center.

I trust our police to fully investigate this crime, wherever the evidence leads. Until they determine what happened there Sunday morning, I cannot comment further."
