Hampton, Va. - Hampton police are still looking into how a man died in officers' custody, but today they shed light on the preliminary investigation.

A week ago, police say they were called to Grant Circle and they found 41-year-old Marlon Dixon holding a stun gun and acting erratically.

Officers decided to place him in “emergency custody.”

Hampton Police say at 9:30 Tuesday morning, Dixon was placed in handcuffs.

Minutes later he stopped breathing.  Fire and rescue were on the scene soon afterward.

At the hospital, police say marijuana and cocaine were recovered from Dixon's clothing.

The cause of his death is still under investigation.
