Virginia Beach, Va. - Virginia Beach Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred early Sunday morning in the 2900 block of Delaware Crossing. They are now calling this a homicide.
Police arrived around 1:30 a.m. to find 37-year-old James Allen Walkup suffering from a single stab wound.
EMS responded and transported Walkup to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased several hours later.
Detectives say Walkup had been involved in a verbal altercation inside the home prior to the stabbing.
Police say they have a suspect in custody but have not identified that person.
The case remains under investigation by the Homicide Unit and will also be screen by the Commonwealth Attorney's Office to determine possible charges.
