City of Virginia Beach July 4 Operating Schedule

Norfolk

The Norfolk Circuit Court will be closed on Friday, July 5.

City of Norfolk offices, facilties, to close July 4 and July 5

Chesapeake

In honor of Independence Day, all City of Chesapeake offices, courts, libraries, and community centers will be closed on Thursday, July 4.

Most trash and recycling collection schedules will not be affected by the holiday closing. Collections will be made as usual on July 4 in all regular areas except sections of South Norfolk where the annual July 4 parade will take place.

The areas generally bordered by Bainbridge Boulevard, Poindexter Street, and the railroad tracks running south and east of Seaboard Avenue will have their trash collected on Friday, July 5. Residents in the affected areas will receive a mailing from the City and are asked to place their containers at the curb late on Thursday for Friday collection.

Suffolk

In observance of Independence Day, Suffolk City offices will be closed Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Normal operations will resume Friday, July 5, 2013, at 8:30 a.m.

The city observes all state-designated holidays. Independence Day is considered a holiday for the Commonwealth of Virginia and all State offices are closed on this day.

The Suffolk Division of Tourism Visitor Center will remain open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2013.

All Suffolk City Libraries will be closed Thursday, July 4, 2013.

The Suffolk Art Gallery will be closed Thursday, July 4, 2013.

All Suffolk Parks & Recreation joint use recreation facilities will be closed Thursday, July 4, 2013. All Planet Recreation programs and sites will be closed on July 4th, including the Booker T. Washington, Creekside, Mack Benn Jr., Northern Shores, Oakland and Whaleyville Recreation Centers.

East Suffolk Recreation Center will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Cypress Park Pool will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Suffolk’s four major parks – Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole,
and Bennett’s Creek will remain open Thursday, July 4, 2013; however, no park attendant will be on duty.

The Suffolk Executive Airport will remain open on Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Waste Management

Suffolk Public Works Department will pick up trash on the following schedule: Thursday’s Route on Friday and Friday’s Route on Saturday. TFC Recycling will follow the same schedule with a one-day delay on service Thursday and Friday. Suffolk Public Works Department reminds you that trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection. The Southeastern Public Safety Authority (SPSA) Transfer Station in Suffolk will be closed Thursday, July 4, 2013. The Regional Landfill will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Portsmouth

City of Portsmouth to Observe July 4 Holiday and July 5

The municipal offices of the City of Portsmouth, including Portsmouth Public Library and all city recreation centers, will be closed in observance of Independence Day on Thursday, July 4 and on Friday, July 5.

There will be no garbage or bulk collection on Thursday, July 4. All Thursday routes will be collected one day early on Wednesday, July 3.

Trash and bulk will be collected on a normal schedule on Friday, July 5.

The Portsmouth Visitor Center, located at 6 Crawford Parkway, will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. For more information, call 757-393-5111.

The Portsmouth Splash Park and the Cavalier Manor Pool will be closed on July 4 and July 5. All other public parks and Pokey Smokey II at Portsmouth City Park will be open from dawn to dusk.

Fort Monroe

Fort Monroe – Road Closures:

The following roads will be closed at 5:30 p.m. on July 4:

• From the intersection of Fenwick Road and Ingalls Road to Griffith Road, Fenwick Road.

• Bernard Road will be closed to the public for pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

• Residents with appropriate passes will have access through North Gate and Main Gate only.

• Ruckman Road, North Gate and Main Gate.

At 9 p.m., no inbound access will be allowed on to Fort Monroe until fireworks have ended and traffic exiting the Fort has cleared.
