Update: All roads are currently open. The gas leak has been contained. No injuries have been reported.
Portsmouth, Va. – A gas leak has been reported at Afton Parkway and Gillis Road, officials tell NewsChannel 3.
Construction crews struck a gas line while digging this morning at approximately 10:40 a.m.
Officers have closed off the surrounding area, approximately 500 feet in every direction from the leak. Traffic traveling on Afton Parkway, towards Gillis Road and Farragut Street is being re-directed at this time.
The Portsmouth Fire Department and gas company officials are on the scene.
