UPDATE: Roadways clear after Suffolk gas leak

UPDATE: Route 460/Pruden Boulevard is now open in both directions, according to the City of Suffolk. No delays are reported at this time.

Suffolk, Va. – Emergency crews are still on the scene of a gas leak at 3040 Pruden Boulevard (Route 460).

A contractor struck a gas line while digging in the area; dispatch was notified at 10:46 a.m. Monday morning.

Virginia Natural Gas crews are on the scene.

The Department of Public Works has created a detour route for Route 460/Pruden Boulevard westbound and eastbound thru traffic.
Westbound thru traffic will be detoured in the following manner: Route 58 west to Pitchkettle Road, then to Kings Fork Road and back to Route 460. Eastbound traffic traveling to Downtown Suffolk will be detoured down Kings Fork Road, then to Godwin Boulevard and back to Route 460.
