Golden Corral released a statement Monday in response to a video that was posted to YouTube showing one of its restaurants in Port Orange, Fla. storing large quantities of raw meat near a dumpster while the restaurant was prepared for an inspection.
The video was posted to YouTube by Brandon Huber, an employee of the restaurant.
In the video, Huber says: “Apparently what my company likes to do to get ready for inspections is to put their food by the dumpsters.”
He then shows raw hamburger patties, ribs and other food sitting by a dumpster behind the restaurant.
“The Port Orange incident was a result of the Associate Manager making a bad decision to improperly store food when the corporate inspector made a routine, unannounced visit to the restaurant. I apologize that a member of my management team made this bad decision,” Eric Holm, owner of the Port Orange, FL Golden Corral restaurant, posted on the Golden Corral Facebook page.
The company said the manager involved in the improper storage of food “was terminated for failing to follow approved food handling procedures.”
