A 40-year-old Norfolk man was arrested early Thursday after allegedly attempting to rob the Wawa at 1579 Lynnhaven Parkway.
Police say Shane Vincent Yanez entered the store wearing a mask and waited while customers ahead of him completed their transactions.
Yanez then reportedly approached the clerk and demanded money.
When the clerk did not understand his demands, Yanez repeated himself before leaving the store without obtaining any money.
Police arrived a short time later and Yanez was located nearby.
He has been charged with attempted robbery and wearing a mask in public.
