Portsmouth, Va. - Police say they have arrested the man accused of robbing grocery stores across the seven cities.

The man is accused of robbing two grocery stores in the last week. And they say more charges could come, as police in Suffolk and Franklin are in the process of charging him with similar crimes.

They say he was staying at a motel when officers found him.

Michael Anthony Richardson is the man police say is responsible for robbing a Portsmouth Farm Fresh and Food Lion.

Officers say Suffolk and Franklin police are in the process of charging Richardson for robbing two more grocery stores, a Walmart, and a PC Express.

He was found in the Economy Motel in Portsmouth, according to police.

Investigators tell NewsChannel 3 they found a car parked in the lot, and it fit what witnesses described seeing when the Food Lion in Portsmouth was robbed last week.

Officers found Richardson inside one of the rooms and recognized him from surveillance photos.

Inside, they say they found evidence linking him to the robberies.

On Monday, July 29th, Richardson was also charged for attempting to rob a Taco Bell at 3708 Virginia Beach Boulevard on July 19th.
