Police continue ‘Operation Heat Wave’ in Newport News

Newport News, Va. - On Wednesday and Thursday, Newport News police will be out looking for the city's most wanted fugitives.

Update 4:00 P.M. 7/25/13: As of 4:00 P.M. 78 people have been arrested on 37 felony charges and 74 misdemeanor charges

During the two day operation, teams of officers will be given packages with the names of people with outstanding warrants and will attempt to locate and arrest them.

One of the many people police will be out looking for: 21-year-old Muhammad Robinson is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl.

Investigators have been looking for Robinson since December.

During "Operation Heat Wave", Newport News officers will be assisted by State Police and other local, state, and federal agencies.
