MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (FOXCT) — Two men watching the movie “Grown Ups 2” Tuesday night at a movie theater were being loud and kicking the seats in front of them, prompting one of the people in front to turn around and tell them to “shut up.”

One of the two men responded by pulling a knife, swearing at the man and saying, “Should we handle this right now?” according to a Middletown police report.

The man and a friend left the theater to report the incident and were followed by the man with the knife, later identified as Jayquan Howard, 19, of Portland, who said to him, “Oh, you guys are snitching on us now?” Howard still had the knife in his hand.

The man with Howard, identified as Jose Rivera, then said, “We can just fight with our hands then,” police said.

Howard, police said, then put the knife in his pocket and he and Rivera, whose name and address were not available, went back into the movie theater.

Police responded to the theater a short time later and had the movie stopped. They placed an officer at each door and had the people in the theater walk out. They then took Howard and Jose Rivera into custody.

Rivera was charged with breach of peace. Howard was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon, second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace.
