Suffolk, Va. - It's petty. But it's dangerous, too. Someone is throwing rocks and maybe even other scraps in Suffolk scaring drivers and homeowners.
Eighty-one-year-old Margaret Jones was on her way home from a women's conference at church Tuesday night with her sister and friend in the car when all of a sudden, something smashed into her driver's side window.
"I hollered 'What in the world is going on? What's happening, what's happening?’ Sounded like somebody is shooting, you know? Shooting at me! So I was scared. I mean really afraid,” says Jones.
She pulled over on 6th Street near Freeney Avenue with shattered glass in her lap, on her clothes and inside the car.
But whatever was thrown at her didn't go all the way through.
“If I had gotten very, very excited at that moment, I could have killed my sister and my friend that was in the car, but I held my composure until I pulled off the highway. And that's when everything hit me. Like boom, boom,” says Jones.
Less than an hour before her car was hit, a woman who lives right down the street was fast asleep when a rock went straight through her dining room window.
The small rocks were thrown so hard they busted through a screen and two panes of glass.
Considering the proximity and time, Suffolk police believe the two events are connected, but don't know who's behind it.
