Newport News man arrested for burglary in Hampton

Hampton, Va. – Police have arrested a man for burglary in Hampton, police tell NewsChannel 3.

It happened on August 11, 2013 at 6:26 p.m. Officers responded to a security alarm activiation at Signal Engineering, located in the 500 block of Industry Drive.

Police say the man forced entry into the business through the rear shed door, adjacent to the business. Once inside, the suspect removed power tools, electronic equipment, and additional merchandise.

A description of the suspect was provided, and officers were able to locate the suspect in the 400 block of Aberdeen Road at approximately 6:40 p.m.

The suspect is identified as 63-year-old Roy Milton Rogers of Newport News. Rogers was arrested and charged with one count of Burglary, one count of Grand Larceny, and one count of Possession of Burglary Tools.

Rogers is now in the custody of the Hampton City Jail.
