Virginia Beach, Va. - Local businesses are taking action along with Beach City schools to help students get ready for school.
The Jump Start 2013 event happened today at Larkspur Middle School.
More than 15 businesses and community groups donated items.
Students picked up back packs, school supplies, clothing, gift cards for shoes, coats, and snack bags.
