Several people are being treated after being exposed to a rabid cat in the Friendship Village area of Virginia Beach.
On August 20th, a resident witnessed a cat attack a child and an adult on Piper’s Crescent.
Animal Control collected the gray and white adult cat, which later tested positive for rabies.
This is the 10th rabid animal identified in Virginia Beach this year.
If you or your pets have had any unreported exposure, such as a bite, scratch or contact to saliva to a stray cat of this description, or any stray cat or wild animals, in this area within the past few weeks, contact the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health immediately or go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
