Williamsburg, Va. – Two people have been arrested and charged after police say four children were left sleeping in a running vehicle while the doors were unlocked on Thursday in Williamsburg.

Police say they found the kids, ages 7,4 and two 7-month-old twins, inside of a tan, Isuzu SUV in the library parking lot.

When the kids woke up, they did not know where the parents were. The children did not need medical attention police say.

Authorities caught up to the parents ten minutes later inside of the library.

Both parents, Shamika Lassiter and James Avent, were arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

They were taken to the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail.
