(CNN) — George Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder July 13, but he’s managed to remain in the spotlight. After getting a warning for speeding in Texas in July, the former neighborhood watch captain was caught putting the pedal to the metal again on Tuesday morning, this time in Lake Mary, Florida.
Zimmerman, who is now sporting a goatee, was given a $256 ticket for going 60 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to Officer Zach Hudson, a spokesman for the Lake Mary Police Department. The traffic stop was captured on video by an officer wearing a chest-mounted camera.
During the Forney, Texas, incident on July 28, Zimmerman received a verbal warning for driving too fast. He also told the officer who pulled him over that he had a gun in his glove compartment.
Police in Lake Mary said Zimmerman was not carrying a gun during Tuesday’s stop, according to HLN affiliate WESH.
He had been charged with second-degree murder for killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Sanford, Florida, on February 26, 2012. Martin was walking through Zimmerman’s neighborhood that night when Zimmerman saw him and told police that he looked suspicious. The two got into an altercation, and Zimmerman said he was forced to draw his gun and shoot Martin in self-defense.
Zimmerman was first spotted after his acquittal in Florida on July 17, when police said he helped a family escape their overturned vehicle.
The latest traffic violation will result in three points on Zimmerman’s license, Lake Mary police said.
