A video posted by Embrace San Diego, an organization that helps homeless and military aveterans, features 17-year Navy veteran Brian DeLaney telling the story of his love for the Navy, adjustment after severing his spinal cord and the loyalty of his partner of 14 years.

DeLaney, skipper of the dock landing ship Harpers Ferry, was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident last October.

The injuries were severe enough to require a change of command on the ship. DeLaney had served as skipper since May of 2011.

Embrace’s Healing Our Heroes program will remodel DeLaney’s home free of charge next month.
