Denbigh High School was placed on lockdown Thursday morning after a student found a bullet casing in a bathroom.

According to Michelle Price with Newport News Schools, the student  found that bullet casing when the principal was doing a walk-through.

The school was placed on lockdown at 9:50 a.m. and all students going into the restroom were searched.

Nothing else was found and the lockdown was lifted at 10:20 a.m.

"We thought it was just a drill," said student Kylin Cully.

Cully was at the school last year when a pellet gun was found. And knowing school shootings are no joke with recent headlines, he was just glad the school day finally ended.

"Right now, I'm just happy I get to go home. I get to go home safe and sound," he says.

The principal has sent a phone message to all families to let them know of the incident.
