Newport News, Va. - Newport News police have made an arrest in an animal cruelty case where they say a man repeatedly slammed a chihuahua into a fence breaking the dog’s leg.
Police say a neighbor of this man, 35-year-old Adam Battles, heard screams and saw Battles banging something into the fence.
That neighbor took action and called police.
When officers arrived to the home on Yeardley Drive, Battles’ girlfriend showed up and let officers search her home to check on her pets.
That’s where they found the chihuahua with its leg broken.
