Virginia Beach, Va. – Today, staff members of Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story (JEBLCFS) and Naval Station Norfolk decided to honor and recognize the mothers and family members of Gold Star Mothers on this national holiday.
Gold Star Mother’s Day is observed in the US every year on the last Sunday of September. Gold Star Mothers are women whose children died while in military service or are missing in action.
As part of the American Gold Star Mothers Organization (a national non-profit organization), these mothers and members volunteer in veteran’s hospitals, community-based outreach programs and support fundraising efforts for veterans.
