Powhatan Co., Va. – A Powhatan County second grader is teaming up with a Virginia Tech student to raise awareness and money to fight Leukemia and Lymphoma.

According to a report from WTVR in Richmond, Virginia, Virginia Tech homecoming king candidate Chris Atkins contacted recovering cancer survivor Nathan Orban to see if the young Hokie fan was interested in forming a partnership.

Atkins, dubbed “King for a Cause,” is using his homecoming platform to bring attention to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, according to the report. Atkins and his Farmhouse Fraternity hope to raise $10,000 for the society.

If Atkins wins, he plans to immediately hand over the crown to Nathan and crown the child as king.
