Virginia is celebrating its wine industry with new found recognition. Governor Bob McDonnell recognized the start of Virginia Wine Month along with all of the living former governors of the Commonwealth.
Monday night’s event wasn’t open to the public, but there are several wine events going on all month that are open to everyone.
Virginia has nearly 300 wineries, making it the 6th largest wine region in the country,
The wine industry adds nearly 750 million dollars to the state’s economy.
