Juliet Bickford was the mistress of Ceremonies Thursday night at “The Veterans of the Korean War Reunion” in Virginia Beach.
People from all over the country came to town for the week-long event. It’s a chance for the veterans to connect and remember those they lost during the Korean War.
A young student named Jonathan Bettis was honored with the Patriotic Award. VKWR President Floyd Newkirk told the touching story of how Jonathan saluted him last Veterans Day when he saw him standing in uniform on his porch.
Jonathan was accompanied by his father Commander Robert M. Bettis of the U.S. Navy Department of medicine and his mom Susan.
