Raleigh, N.C. – A Buncombe County, NC Republican precinct chairman has resigned after making “offensive” comments on “The Daily Show.” That’s according to a report from MyFox8.com.

Buncombe GOP Chairman Henry Mitchell said Don Yelton officially stepped down from his position Thursday, MyFox8 reports.

In a segment that aired Wednesday night, Yelton blasted “lazy black people that want the government to give them everything,” one of several racially charged comments he made during the interview.

Mitchell called the remarks “offensive, uniformed and unacceptable of any member within the Republican Party.”
