Right now, officials in North Carolina and South Carolina are in the final stages of deciding where the border will be between the two southern states.

According to wsoctv.com, it has been 240 years since the border has been mapped out.

This is now becoming a big concern for residents and business owners there.

One business owner, Lewis Efird, told wsoctv that he wants the line to stay where it is right now. He owns a business in York County, S.C. He says he received a letter telling him he will be affected by the new border. His business will now fall in North Carolina. This means his business will no longer be able to sell fireworks, alcohol, or cheap gas at South Carolina prices according to wsoctv.com.

Officials say the true state line was lost over time because the first boundary was marked using rocks and trees. Since then, trees have died and developers have cleared the land.
