Northampton County, Va. – Twenty-eight-year-old Stephen Carpenter is behind bars after police say he hit a woman who was jogging, assaulted her with a blunt object and then forced her into his car.
This happened last Thursday in Oyster, which is on the Eastern Shore.
Police say just before 5:30 that evening, terror unfolded. After the woman was allegedly forced into Carpenter’s vehicle, investigators say she was able to get away and call 911.
She’s been released from the hospital.
Carpenter is facing multiple charges including attempted first-degree murder and abduction.
