A woman has died as a result of a crash in Mathews County.
It happened at 5:14 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. Virginia State Police Trooper B.S. Frye was called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Route 660/East River Road at Route 625/Tick Neck Road in Mathews County.
A 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was traveling along Route 660 when it ran off the right side of the road into a ditch and overturned. The vehicle then caught fire.
The driver of the vehicle, Christy L. Carlton, 35, of Mathews, Va., died at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time.
