Chesapeake, Va. - One person has died as a result of a two-vehicle crash on Green Tree Road in Chesapeake, police tell NewsChannel 3.

It happened on November 12, 2013. At approximately 2:00 p.m., Chesapeake Police responded to a head-on collision at Green Tree Road and Woodspring Arch. A 70-year-old man hit a passing lawn service truck head on.

The 70-year-old driver died on scene, according to police.

One passenger inside of the lawn service truck was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Devin Sigler rushed from her home to the wreckage and tried to save the man.

"He was up against the window and I knew that he had passed just by the color of his skin. He wasn't breathing."

Sigler works in the medical field, and thought she could help.

It was too late. The 70-year-old man had died.

"It's going to haunt me for the rest of my life. It was just kind of one eye open, his mouth open and it was just real surreal for me."

Initially, people wanted to pull the man out of his car.

Sigler knew what to do. There was nothing she could do but wait for first responders to get there.

The man's late model Oldsmobile was no match for the much bigger truck.

Investigators have not said whether the 70-year-old had a medical emergency that caused the crash.
