A spokesperson for Newport News Public Schools says a parent notified the principal of B.C. Charles Elementary that her child was approached as he walked to the bus stop on Monday.
The parent says as the student was walking, an adult male attempted to lure the child away by asking the child to help him look for a lost dog. The man also reportedly offered candy.
The principal of the school has notified parents to be aware.
Police have reportedly also been notified of the incident.
