Virginia Beach, Va. – How were Virginia Beach residents “Living the Life” in the 1960s?
The public is invited to join the festivities on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 5 p.m. at the City of Virginia Beach’s 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Town Center Fountain Plaza, located on Central Park Avenue.
The event will feature remarks by Virginia Beach Mayor William D. Sessoms, Jr., and video highlights from 1963, the year that the resort community of Virginia Beach merged with the much larger suburbs and farms of Princess Anne County to form the City of Virginia Beach.
The event kicks off with the music of the Mosaic Steel Drum Orchestra at 5 p.m., followed by the commemoration of the 50th anniversary.
The “Light up the Town” parade starts at 6 p.m., followed by the Lighting up of Town Center and a laser show to jump-start the holiday season.
