Virginia Beach, Va. – The City of Virginia Beach, along with the cities of Norfolk and Chesapeake, is undergoing a temporary conversion from chloramines to free chlorine disinfection in the water distribution system.
This is a preventative maintenance measure and is being done to help maintain the highest possible water quality for residents.
Virginia Beach water will be treated with chlorine through Dec. 16, at which point the system will be switched back to chloramine, officials say.
Customers may notice a slight taste and odor change in the water, but customers do not need to make any changes to their water-use routines.
